for the birds

Thursday, April 2nd, 2009

a few weeks ago i was walking outside and passed a dead bird, just an ordinary brown bird, on the sidewalk. i had a fleeting moment of poor bird and then walked on. later that day as i walked to the library, i passed another dead bird, this one much smaller, bright blue with a splash of yellow, and i began thinking the birds were bad omens for something.

and then today i found this image by amy stein. and i am now thoroughly depressed about the birds.

happy happy october ;)

Thursday, October 16th, 2008

happy october! it’s my favorite month of the year. the weather is perfect, warm days, crisp evenings, the leaves are changing. i can almost smell the campfire smoke even in the middle of the city. i like the way the word rolls off my tongue, i love the color orange, i somehow feel more justifed in making pumpkin walnut bread and soups. and life starts to slow down…just a little.

a belated beginning

to mirror the reality of my life, this constitutes a belated beginning to my non-sequitur, and now manifest, musings. i’ll attempt fluidity and see where it takes me.
